Last time, I made a post about how quite honestly compared to yuri or shoujo-ai animes out there, there’s not enough BL -boys love- stories out there, being made into animes, and though that has been slowly, but surely changing -this year we have 3 yaoi animes to look forward to-.
That being said, the thing is that the majority of the stories that are being adapted, aren’t necessarily rich in well… story -baring some exceptions-, and are still mainly in the same BL cliché of having a particularly feminine bottom, a strong, possessive on more masculine top, and the relationship beginning pretty much with plain out rape.
Which is why a while ago I decided to post what I think as BL mangas that don’t necessarily follow this tropes, and I think would work pretty well as animes.
Last time I wrote about Asterisk, a shounen-ai by Morimoto Shuu. So… this time around I decided to go for a yaoi: Border by Kodaka Kazuma
A lot has been happening in the Voltron fandom since season 7 was released, as always via Netflix. So… I decided to give it some time before I wrote down my thoughts, and why not? Rewatch it a couple of times.
Originally, I was intending to post my review a month after season 7’s release, but in the end, there are so many things to discuss and theorize about, that I simply couldn’t wait anymore!
So… did I loved Season 7? Did I absolutely hate it? Well…, my thoughts on it are a little complicated, and here’s why:
Back in the day, I was a big Power Rangers fan, in fact, scratch that, I was a big Power Rangers fan, probably longer than it’s acceptable for anyone to be nowadays.
I watched almost all of them consecutively, from Mighty Morphing Power Rangers to Power Rangers Dino Thunder, and watched some episodes of Mystic Force, SPD, RPM, and Jungle Fury thrown here and there.
Power Rangers became kind of a guilty pleasure to me, which is why it kind of baffles me that I didn’t read this comic ’til about 2 weeks ago.
I mean I knew about its existence, but to be honest it really didn’t pick my interest mainly because I thought I was finally done with all things Power Rangers -with exception of the movie- and… I haven’t been a fan of most of the TV to Comic adaptations, but then… the trailer for Shattered Grid dropped.
So, of course, I had to check what it was all really about and pick up the comic, and in order to have a full understanding about what was happening, eventually read the previous issues, and you know what, it was totally worth it!
It seems like I´m always late to reviewing Voltron Legendary Defenders, and it’s not as if I didn’t watch the season as soon as it was available; it’s just that so many things happened, in and outside of the fandom world. That I couldn’t wrap my head around it.
But…, after watching season 6 for the third time, and with season 7 less than 2 weeks away, I decided why not go ahead and write my thoughts on the season, even though it’s probably too late now.
Anyhow, if I had to describe season 6 in a phrase it would be the “season of payoffs”, or… maybe “the season of the feels!” -I’m still deciding on it-
‘Cause yeah, this season was basically the culmination of everything that has been set up since I’d dare say, season 1, and the feels! God the feels!
I had a list! I swear I had a list! I have, in fact, all my 2018 TBR lists per month done! I mean sure before posting said lists sometimes I have to tweak a couple of things here and there -especially when it turns out, the books I wanted to read that month haven´t been released yet-, but for the most part it´s pretty much done!, so… what happened to the May TBR list? Well…
I think this must be the first time I post this list before any movies of the month come out!
Anyhow if I thought there were lots of movies to watch in March and surprisingly February, that was nothing! Nothing I tell you, compared to how many releases there are this April!
So… once again since money is tighter now than ever, I had to make some difficult choices and therefore here´s my watching or waiting list for the April movies released in Mexico.
So… I´m still one book behind my March TBR list, but April is already here, therefore though I haven´t finished Into The Water yet, here I am once again with my book list of the month.
This time around since in my country we celebrate children´s day this month and they tell me that apparently in the United States they celebrate siblings they this month… well my April TBR list is all about kids and siblings, so… here we go!
So, after watching Hitorijime My Hero and writing my thoughts about it, I started to think about the lack of yaoi/shounen-ai animes -especially when compared with the yuri/shoujo ai ones-, as well as how the ones made always seem to go along the same lines.
With the delicate/fragile/kind of airheaded uke, forceful/stoic/kind of a dick seme, one of them always been perfect at housework, the nonconsensual interactions if not right out rape, etc.
Which made me think that maybe just maybe, in order to get this genre more appreciated we need some other type of shounen-ai/yaoi animes?
´Cause there are some good stories out there that not necessarily fall into these tropes and that I think would make awesome animes! And so…, here I am, with my first post on shounen-ai/yaoi mangas that I think should definitely get an anime!
