When there´s something strange in your prison block, who you gonna call? Ghost Rider! Or at least that´s who S.H.I.E.L.D. is calling, ´cause this week Robbie Reyes kicked some spirits asses back to hell -or wherever they belong-, while doing a prison break with our core S.H.I.E.L.D. team, which… is back!
Well…, sort of ´cause Daisy insists on being her emo self and plans to bail when all this ghost business is done, and after what happened this week, I doubt the director will let our core team hang out together and do what they please without severe consequences. And after what happened, I can understand that -I don´t like it but yeah, I get it-.
Anyway, last week I didn´t have the time to review this episode, and I was planning to do it this week before Lockup premiered but… life what can you do, so I´ll try to focus on this episode and maybe mention some things from the previous one, so… let´s begin.

Remember how I praised last week´s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Well… this weeks episode wasn´t that good, I mean it wasn´t bad, not at all but; compared to the previous two. Let´s just say it kind of slowed down -just like I feared-.
And I guess I should have expected it -and I kind of did?- ´cause there are more or less 22 episodes on a traditional TV series, and there are just some many revelations and bombs, the show can throw around before burning through all of its storylines so… I guess it´s OK.
And that was in great part thanks to this episode being heavy in Yo-yo, who is turning out to be by far my favorite addition to AoS. Don´t get me wrong! I´m totally on board with Robbie Reyes aka Ghost Rider, but… Yo-yo! Yo-yo is amazing! Fresh and entertaining to watch. She also feels -at least to me- as a real part of the series and not just a guest or especial appearance so… yeah I love whenever I see her on my screen.
Anyway… on to Uprising, the 3rd episode that had to be put off ´til this week for… the vice presidential debate?

I loved this episode! I loved so much that I can´t help but wonder why it took me so long to write about it?
But… in the end, I guess there were so many things to comment on that it was kind of difficult to organize my thoughts -or make time for it-.
Anyway, with its firey premiere -pun totally intended- Agent´s of S.H.I.E.L.D kind of set its own bar pretty high; ´cause that episode seemed to make a very good use of its new timeslot and take some giant steps into transforming the series on a more mature, grittier and edgier version of itself.
Now, reinventing a series isn´t easy to accomplish; therefore it´s not surprising at all that many tuned in just to see if AoS would make it or stumbled; only to be surprised with the excellent episode delivered.
I for my part, wasn´t that surprised ´cause if there´s something AoS has done well since it´s 2nd season; it´s premieres and midseason finales -although to be honest, the midseason thing has been going since the 1st season-. Which is to say that AoS generally has excellent first half seasons -with the exception of the mentioned 1st one-
So.. in the end, the real challenge for this series is to keep things up after the midseason finale and not to slow down significantly during the 22 episodes that it usually has. But I digress so let´s leave that aside for the moment and dig into episode 2: Meet The New Boss.

For reasons, I can´t quite discern right now. Last season I didn´t review Agent´s of S.H.I.E.L.D. as much as I would have liked, and I like the series!
Then again, after the Mid-season finale, the series kind of went downhill and lost a little steam due to the long hiatus, the Ward/Hive story arc and then there was the “Fallen Agent” thing -not a fan, they totally cheated!-, and well… I like this series and it still is one of my favorites but my friends and I have long discussed how AoS seems to do better at the Mid-season finales than the actual season finales.
Anyhow, while not exactly disappointing -again I liked last season and truly enjoy this series-, last season left us a little unsure about the future of this series, what with Agent Carter being cancel -I´m still in mourning- ABC deciding to pass once again on the Marvel´s Most Wanted series -not really surprised, nor sorry at all for that one- and then… AoS was moved to the 10 pm time slot.
There was some arguing on whether this change of schedule meant that ABC was setting the show to die or giving it a chance to be darker, grittier and edgier. And then, Ghost Rider was announced as part of season 4 and after having seen the premiere, I can say I really hope is the later, ´cause Agent´s of S.H.I.E.L.D. seems to have really stepped up its game!

Yes I´m citing Yuuko Ichihara, yes it´s from an anime/manga –xxxHoLic-; no it has nothing to do with comics or tv series for that matter but I felt this quote was perfect for this episode which I think was awesome.
For the first time since “Maveth”, I feel like AOS it´s finally back. I mean “Bouncing Back” was a good episode but I felt that it was lacking something, it was a little slow, more setting things than anything and I don´t know maybe because of the long hiatus it kind of felt like the show had lost its momentum.
Then we got “The Inside Man” and “Parting Shots” and the problem here is that I was never a Bobbi and Hunter fan, I mean Bobbi was badass and Hunter was kind of charming I enjoyed the characters but if these episodes proved something to me, it was that I like this two interacting with the main AOS cast and not on their own -that spy´s goodbye hit me right onthe feels- so good luck Marvel´s Most Wanted -I don´t think I´ll be watching you-
And finally… let´s better not talk about “Watchdogs” ´cause while I saw a direct Captain America Civil War connection there it wasn´t enough to save the episode.
So… “Spacetime” was a great episode where AOS seems to finally be picking up the pace and we´re finally getting somewhere. At the end of the episode for the first time in a while, I felt really excited and I couldn´t wait for what it´s to come, in fact, it got me reeling so much that all I could think was basically:
- Future it´s inevitable it seems
- Will Daisy finally get that inhumanity isn´t for everybody?
- Will Coulson ever get used to calling her Daisy?
- So… every inhuman has a reason to be so… Lash´s it´s HIVE, I guess?
- Finally they know not-Ward is back!
- What did Malick saw?
- Is Daisy in the spaceship 3 moths from now? -is it still 3 moths away?-
