Descendants 2,- Those you Leave Behind

Tvies

1I pretty much started this blog with a Descendants review, so I guess it makes sense that I´d finally return to it after watching Descendants 2, which premiered via Disney Channel pretty much 2 weeks ago.

So… as some of you might know, I´m a big Disney fan -which includes the Disney Channel-, so I usually watch all the of its DCOMs –Disney Channel Original Movies– more than once, and while I have liked some other movies that have come out since Descendants –Invisible Sister, The Swap– I have to admit that Descendants was still my favorite.

Therefore you can imagine how anxious I was to watch the promised sequel, especially when the heists were so high, ´cause sequels always have it difficult, since they not only have to live up to the hype of the previous movie but also ideally do better.

So… How did Descendants 2 do?

Books Pouring Down On Me

Calling my name

Once again I´m late with my reading list -this is starting to be the norm now-, but at least I have already finished the first of my  April picks so…. not everything is lost, right?

books-rain-window-favim-com-3591441Anyway last month I was able to read almost all of my March picks -I didn´t read my Spanish book pick-, so let’s hope this month I can do at least as good if not better than March.

So…. for this month the books, I also tried to choose books that had something to do with the things celebrated in April -which were surprisingly plenty- such as kid´s day, book´s day and Gabriel García Márquez -a Colombian journalist, writer, etc.- birthday.

Anyhow, without any further ado, to the list:

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.- Expanding the Wizarding World (Expandiendo el Mundo Mágico)

Movie Thoughts

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is back! Except, this time there´s no Harry Potter so… I guess it would be better to say that the Wizarding World of J.K. Rowling is back, and while I have read and seen all of the Harry Potter books -at least the original 7- and movies, I wouldn´t consider myself a fan fan.

41899I mean I like Harry Potter, and for a time there I was kind of obsessed with it -to the point I read lots of fanfics-, but… if I compare myself to other people I know, who actually read the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them book -which is you know, a sort of  encyclopedia-, I´m not that much of a fan.

Anyway, I make this clarification, because if you´re reading my thoughts on this movie, expecting me to sing it praises; chances are you´re going to be disappointed.

En fin, hago eta aclaración porque, sí estas leyendo mis pensamiento sobre esta película esperando que le cante elogios; probablemente seas decepcionado.

Don´t get me wrong! I enjoyed the movie, but… let´s just say that I won´t be running to the movie theater in order to watch it again. And while I didn´t exactly love the movie -like many seem to have done-, I did find it interesting and I can´t wait to see more about it just… maybe not from Newt Scamander´s hands?

¡No me mal entiendan!

Halloween & Día de Muertos Books Whispering to me

Calling my name

I usually dedicate this section to the books I really, really wish to read. The ones that keep teasing me with their synopsis and Goodreads keeps on pushing my way.  But since I have only written 2 posts in this section -not counting this one-, I have decided to
do something a little different and make a sort of book list per month -or 2 months-.

I have sort of done something like this in my comic book posts, so… the rules to apply here will be kind of similar.

capturaAnyway, in this instance, I decided to go with books that gave me a kind of Halloween and Día de Muertos feeling, ´cause that´s basically October and November -at least in regards to festivities-  are all about in my country if you leave the 20 de noviembre behind -revolutions day-

And I know that October is almost over, but this just makes it more fun to see if at least I´ll manage to finish one book in a week, right?

Anyhow, these are my  October-November picks -warning I don´t like horror-:

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell.- ´Cause sometimes you can only keep moving

Loved it-hated it

I was 11 years old, and I´d lost my mother, and my soul, and the Crucible game me you.

Baz from Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

You have to pretend you get an endgame, You have to carry on like you will; otherwise, you can´t carry on at all.

Simon from Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

wp-1455649507966.jpegIf I could get away with it, I really think I would quote all this book without writing my review, and that´s ´cause I love it!, ´cause there are so many phrases and expressions, sentences and words, that I wouldn´t want anyone to miss.

If you have read my Fangirl review, you would know that I fell in love with the world of Simon Snow before I knew that it existed, I fell in love with the characters and the potential story, trough Cath´s words, and the fictional author Gemma T. Leslie, and though I was very hyped to begin with, nothing could have prepared me for the real deal. Continue reading “Carry On by Rainbow Rowell.- ´Cause sometimes you can only keep moving”

Unmarked Vampire by Belinda Laj

Loved it-hated it

Just when you think there´s nothing that could be added to the vampire genre, along comes and author that not only expands it, but also respects everything that came before it.

It certainly isn´t easy, but it´s something that Belinda Laj has managed to do in her Unmarked Vampire story.

As anyone reading this blog would know by now, I´m a supernatural junkie and love, more like adore the vampire genre; so I have pretty much read all of the classics and most popular books and series.

So when @Booktasters gave me the opportunity to read a book about vampires, I basically jumped at it and started reading right away. Continue reading “Unmarked Vampire by Belinda Laj”

Note: Please  rememeber to refer the host of the meme in your own post and leave a comment there with a link to your Highlighted sentence so all the participant can have a look at it.

Since it´s been a long time since the last time I participated on one of Books and Messy Buns book memes -and I have left this blog kind of abandoned- I decided to try once more and do my highlited sentences with my early thoughts on a book I´m currently reading but… I kind of cheated.

My highlighted sentences is:

Highlited Monday-Fred

-The Utterly Uninteresting & Unadventurous Tales of Fred the Vampire Accountant by Drew Hayes

That sentence pretty much sums the book for me, and eventhough it happens not really that early on the book, it was after reading this sentences that I knew for sure that I was in for a fun ride, and what a ride it has been!
