Shounen-ai/Yaoi Mangas that Should Definitely be Animes! Pt2.- Border by Kodaka Kazuma

Watch list

Last time, I made a post about how quite honestly compared to yuri or shoujo-ai animes out there, there’s not enough BL -boys love- stories out there, being made into animes, and though that has been slowly, but surely changing -this year we have 3 yaoi animes to look forward to-.

border-1-tonkamThat being said, the thing is that the majority of the stories that are being adapted, aren’t necessarily rich in well… story -baring some exceptions-, and are still mainly in the same BL cliché of having a particularly feminine bottom, a strong, possessive on more masculine top, and the relationship beginning pretty much with plain out rape.

Which is why a while ago I decided to post what I think as BL mangas that don’t necessarily follow this tropes, and I think would work pretty well as animes.

Last time I wrote about Asterisk, a shounen-ai by Morimoto Shuu. So… this time around I decided to go for a yaoi: Border by Kodaka Kazuma

Onto the End of the Line.- Voltron Legendary Defender Season 7 Review

Tvies

voltron-legendary-defender-1-e14549694407951A lot has been happening in the Voltron fandom since season 7 was released, as always via Netflix. So… I decided to give it some time before I wrote down my thoughts, and why not? Rewatch it a couple of times.

Originally, I was intending to post my review a month after season 7’s release, but in the end, there are so many things to discuss and theorize about, that I simply couldn’t wait anymore!

So… did I loved Season 7? Did I absolutely hate it? Well…, my thoughts on it are a little complicated, and here’s why:

Right on the Quintessence.- Voltron Legendary Defender Season 6 Review

Tvies

voltron-legendary-defender-1-e14549694407951It seems like I´m always late to reviewing Voltron Legendary Defenders, and it’s not as if I didn’t watch the season as soon as it was available; it’s just that so many things happened, in and outside of the fandom world. That I couldn’t wrap my head around it.

But…, after watching season 6 for the third time, and with season 7 less than 2 weeks away, I decided why not go ahead and write my thoughts on the season, even though it’s probably too late now.

Anyhow, if I had to describe season 6 in a phrase it would be the “season of payoffs”, or… maybe “the season of the feels!” -I’m still deciding on it-

‘Cause yeah, this season was basically the culmination of everything that has been set up since I’d dare say, season 1, and the feels! God the feels!

So… What happened to May? Bookworm Problems 101

Calling my name

I had a list! I swear I had a list! I have, in fact, all my 2018 TBR lists per month done! I mean sure before posting said lists sometimes I have to tweak a couple of things here and there -especially when it turns out, the books I wanted to read that month haven´t been released yet-, but for the most part it´s pretty much done!, so… what happened to the May TBR list? Well…

This happened!

Super Sons: Up up and away?

All-time favorites

cefgrokwaaaqxsdSo…, I´m starting to think the Comic book Gods have something against me ´cause first Marvel cancels Spider-woman -I meant to write about it, but I was really upset-, then I hear that Laura Kinney´s run as Wolverine is coming to a close and now! Now! DC is canceling Super Sons?

Like seriously? why? Super Sons is one of the best things to come from the whole DC Rebirth! -along with Jonathan Kent as Superboy, but that pretty much comes hand in hand so there-, I mean I know that the plan is apparently to have both Damian and Jon in the new Young Justice comic -probably written by Tomasi-, but still!

Shounen-ai/Yaoi Mangas that Should Definitely be Animes! Pt1.- Asterisk by Morimoto Shuu

Watch list

So, after watching Hitorijime My Hero and writing my thoughts about it, I started to think about the lack of yaoi/shounen-ai animes -especially when compared with the yuri/shoujo ai ones-, as well as how the ones made always seem to go along the same lines.

With the delicate/fragile/kind of airheaded uke, forceful/stoic/kind of a dick seme, one of them always been perfect at housework, the nonconsensual interactions if not right out rape, etc.

Which made me think that maybe just maybe, in order to get this genre more appreciated we need some other type of shounen-ai/yaoi animes?

´Cause there are some good stories out there that not necessarily fall into these tropes and that I think would make awesome animes! And so…, here I am, with my first post on shounen-ai/yaoi mangas that I think should definitely get an anime!

What the Quiznak?.- Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 5 Review

Tvies

voltron-legendary-defender-1-e14549694407951Awesome action, warfare, family, politics, feels! and freaking cliffhangers!
Those are the words that I´d use to describe Voltron: Legendary Defender -VLD- Season 5, which just premiered this Friday.

As you might remember, not too long ago I finally decided to give VLD a go, and I absolutely loved it!, so I was more than thrilled when I saw that Season 5 would premiere on March 2nd.

Now reasons for loving Voltron I´ve got plenty, just as I mentioned in my previous post, but… Did season 5 live up to the hype? Well…, the short answer is yes! It totally did! And here is why:

Why Voltron Legendary Defender is more than a Kids Show

Why not

voltron-legendary-defender-1-e14549694407951You know what’s the best thing about getting into a series late on? Particularly a Netflix one?
Not having to wait months for a new season!

So…, yeah basically a month ago, I finally decided to make use of my Netflix subscription and watch some of the Netflix show that I have been meaning to watch but for some reason, I haven’t, and… among them there was Voltron!

So… yeah, at the beginning I was a little unsure ’cause while I have been a huge fan of “kids series” like Phineas & Ferb, Star vs the Forces of Evil, Gravity Falls, Miraculous Lady Bug, etc., there have been some others that… have made me wonder what the heck are kids watching and learning these days -and man does that make me feel old-.

But in the end… watching the promo and learning that some of the creative team behind The Legend of Korra were also behind this series… well I had to give it a chance.

And I’m actually glad I did! I won’t say that Voltron Legendary DefendersVLD– is the best-animated series out there, ’cause there are plenty of awesome series and it does start kind of slow, but what I will say without doubt is that the series does have a lot of attention to detail, it’s really well written, has awesome animation, heart and doesn’t dumb things down. Movies to Fill September with Enegry (Películas para Llenar Septiembre de Energía)

Watching or waiting

So… September is here! And it´s usually the month in which there are duller movies, or at least it is where I live -seriously! last September I had basically nothing to watch!- so imagine my surprise when I checked this month´s releases and I found out that this September is anything but dull!

Anyhow, this time around it´s also pretty evenly split with 4 movies I really want to watch and 4 others that I´m still on the fence about, so… without further ado, here we go:

En fin, esta vez la cartelera para mi esta muy bien dividida con 4 películas que realmente quiero ver y otras 4 que aún estoy considerando, así que… sin más que decir, aquí vamos:

Note: Remember that I live in Mexico, so as always this list only has the Mexican release date, you have been warned

Movies to Say bye To the Summer (Películas para Despedir el Verano)

Watching or waiting

Time really flies when you’re having fun, or when you´re so busy that you can´t do any of the things you like. But.. anyhow be it whatever the case it is, there´s an irrefutable truth, summer is over.

For some of us, this means nothing, since we don´t have vacations anyway, but for some others, the end of summer means going back to school or work. So… in order to hopefully make this transition easier on myself -after all, kids going back to class means more traffic for me and waking up earlier-, here´s my list of the movies that I definitely don´t want to miss this August and some that… I´m still thinking about.

Note: As always, since I live in Mexico, this list only has the Mexican release date, so you have been warned
